Description: After the occultist Etteilla's designs, the Grand Etteilla by Grimaud is considered a Type I style. Etteilla was the pseudonym of Jean-Baptiste Alliette. His designs are one of the first tarots created specifically for cartomancy.

  • Titles: French
  • Cards: tax-stamp on Two of Swords. “This stamp was in use in France from 1940 to 1944.The text is 'ÉTAT FRANÇAIS', 'CONTRIBUTIONS INDIRECTES', and 'FRANCE'” (Endebrock 2011).
  • Colours: chromolithograph
  • Borders: single black-line
  • Reverses: blue pattern of swirls
  • Paper: thinner than earlier editions, but still sturdy pasteboard cardstock with sharp corners
  • Corners: square

    CONDITION:  Very good condition; some wear and stains; with surface spotting and scuffing, colours still vibrant; little to no edgewear with corners sharp. Booklet in good condition, with some marks and staining, including on the front and back cover; corner and edge wear as well as crinkling throughout. See photographs for further details.
