Engraved frontispiece, title page with engraved vignette, portrait of the author, and 50 engraved copper emblems by Luyken. Bound in contemporary brown calf leather, spine with five raised bands and decorated with faded gilt fleurons.
Luyken was a Dutch poet, painter, and engraver, trained by his father, Kasper Luyken, in Amsterdam. The book contains proverbs for children alongside images of various children's games and other scenes.
CONDITION: Very good condition, bound in brown calf leather, with some chips to the front board, spine with wear and fading; text with some foxing and other stains, some minor edge tears; engravings all present and in good shape.
