1885, printed in New York. 1st thus with 3 volumes in 1 with 3 separate title-pages, one for each volume of South America, Australia, & New Zealand. Full-page frontispiece with main title as well as engravings in the titles of the other 2 volumes.

Originally entitled, Les Enfants du Capitaine Grant, and, later, In Search of the Castaways. Profusely illustrated, with engravings by Riou. Numerous full-page engraved illustrations with several in-text illustrations. Uncertain whether all of the engravings are still present within the text-block. Embossed and gilt-decorated front cover. Spine decorated with illustration of a seagull flying above a corked bottle floating at sea. Rear board decorated with intricate blind-stamped publisher's monogram. Decorative end-papers. 

A beautiful edition and a great addition to any Jules Verne collection!

CONDITION:

very good condition; spine somewhat faded with loss of gilt title ornamentation, boards with only minor signs of wear, bumped corners, inner front seam cracked, head of spine with small tear & signs of attempted repairs; pages excellent with instances of light soiling and/or minor stains, scattered foxing, occasional bunching of gathered sections of the text-block & a few minor pencil notations, moderate soiling of page edges, award plate on front paste-down.
