Examination of the book reveals an interesting provenance, and a curious exhibition of astrological and religious knowledge. Includes markings and notations in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. This Sainte Bible is perhaps a relic from the resurgence of Kabbalah in Paris during the 18th and 19th centuries. Provenance includes the family of Seigneur-Gens, with an inscribed family dedication on the front blank leaf, and additional loose notes with handwritten research of this book.
Very good; some separation of leather; straining of joints; some pages with minor water-staining, personal annotations by previous owner in Egyptian, Greek & Hebrew. Some faults, including age-yellowing, occasional foxing, stains on some pages, several margins with pencil annotations, tears of a few pages (without text loss), crease on half-title. Title-page with fold mark & dirt splotch. 1st page of Genesis with scotch-tape remnant of ancient repairs
