DESCRIPTION: Rare edition of the Livre de Thot 78 Tarots Egyptiens, manufactured by Z. Lismon in Paris, France. Printed c.1885-90, with lithographic painted stencils.

Grand Etteilla design known as Type II. 22 Major Arcanum & 56 Minor Suits. Deux d'Épées bears the Avril 12 1890 République Français tax-stamp.

Printed on sturdy pasteboard, the cards are each framed with a painted stencil blue border. The designs are rendered with a unique five-colour palette, with bright pink, peach, red, vibrant yellow, and the distinctive lismon-light blue. There is a unique brilliance to this deck's painted vignettes and its unusual blend of colour tones.

French titles, titled on either side, with upright and reversed fortunes at top and bottom side. Arabic numerals at each of the four corners; with single black line inner border, as well as the thick painted blue stencil border characteristic of the Lismon Etteilla. Reverses designed with a pattern of red squiggles.

In 1838 Simon Blocquel published a new version of Etteilla’s deck, with the title 'Grand livre de Thot.' This new version by Blocquel is widely known as the Lismon Etteilla. Simon Blocquel habitually used anagrammatic synonyms such as Blismon, Z. Lismon, Zlismon.
